Project Description: The Huronia Regional Centre (HRC) is a landmark facility on a prominent 107-hectare site. The site contains 50 buildings, ranging in age from the mid-19th to the late 20th century. A centralized steam plant provides heating into HRC site. The steam boilers in the steam plant are in poor condition and requires extensive maintenance to keep it operable. Therefore one of the incentive to decentralize the heat generating plant is to avoid such concern.
The facility (building 20) is about 16,500 sq ft and was built in 1969. Building 20 Heating Plant project was initiated to decommission of the existing steam heating system and setup of multiple hydronic and de-centralized heating plant along with its associated controls, electrical and architectural components for the OPP Technological Crime Unit (TCU) building, based on the recent Heating Plant study.
